Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach Conquers Rom-Com Moviedom
in “My Perfect You”

“My Perfect You,” the latest and hottest romantic comedy from the Philippines, is a must-see.

DALY CITY, Calif. (March 22, 2018) Pia Wurtzbach, one of the most beautiful faces in the world crowned Miss Universe 2015, teams up with versatile lead actor, Filipino-American Gerald Anderson, in a romantic comedy with a twist – “My Perfect You.”

The Star Cinema film is directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, dubbed as the “blockbuster director” because of her track record for directing top-grossing films in the Philippines.

“My Perfect You” is the story of Burn (Anderson), a man who experiences a series of failures and disappointments in life and decides to get away from it all. As he escapes, he meets the perky and spirited Abi (Wurtzbach), a resort-owner trying to revive her business. Abi’s perennial optimism initially annoys the down-and-out Burn, until he realizes that he enjoys the time spent with her.

Audiences will see how the seeming lightness of the rom-com genre is effectively used as a channel to convey a deeper message of how one can handle life’s challenges, no matter how mentally or emotionally crippling they can be.

Burn’s blue funk contradicts with Abi’s rose-colored glasses, yet, there is superb chemistry between the two lead actors. The backdrop of the lush and breathtaking views of Masinloc, Zambales adds to the charm of “My Perfect You.” The small town with first-class natural wonders is known for its rivers, mangroves, and waterfalls, among others. See if the perfect setting would make for a perfect ending for Burn and Abi.

Go on a perfect getaway with Gerald Anderson and Pia Wurtzbach in an imperfectly beautiful love story.

PRESS STATEMENT

05 MARCH 2018
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRESS STATEMENT ON “BAGANI”

The concept of ABS-CBN’s new fantaserye “Bagani” is to feature warriors, protectors, and heroes who espouse Filipino values and beliefs.

The production team did intensive research to determine a distinctly Filipino term that embodies a champion who fights for the common good of his tribe or family—somebody who is brave, honorable, self-sacrificing, and good-hearted.  In the end, the team recognized that the term and concept of a “Bagani” best solidifies the traits that the program wants to highlight.

With all due respect, the use of “Bagani” is not in any way intended to malign or to disrespect beliefs of the Indigenous Peoples’ communities, but instead hopes to propagate the values, morals, and ethics that are inherent in a ‘Bagani’—a Filipino warrior, protector, and hero.

To be clear, the “Bagani” fantaserye does not purport itself to be a historical account of Philippine history or culture.  The program has always maintained that it has created an alternative fictional universe with elements of Filipino mythology and folklore that simply serves as an avenue to creatively deliver and highlight Filipino values, beliefs, and heroism. (ABS-CBN Corporate Communications, Manila, Philippines)

He is flanked by North America Dealer Management & Recruitment Manager Malou Garcia (left), North America Marketing Head Pam Castillo (2nd from right), and North America Sales & Distribution Head Ray Olano (right).

TFC dealers and agents are the vanguards of the businesses of TFC. According to Ray Olano, North American Sales and Distribution Head, “Our TFC dealers and agents are the frontliners of TFC, hence are critical in fulfilling ABS-CBN’s mission of serving the overseas Filipino.

When asked, what fulfills them as TFC dealers, Leona Sala, Top Sales Achiever for the U.S., shared that “It is the moment after I have set up the customer’s box and as soon as you turn it on, seeing the light in their eyes, the laughter, and the occasional jumping up and down and the hugs.”

Another dealer, Bing Lim, recalled that when she “installed the set-top box in the home of a 75-year old couple who had not been home in over 20 years, the first time they heard Noli De Castro (a popular Filipino newscaster) say ‘Magandang Gabi, Bayan,’ they actually had tears in their eyes.”

Olano recognizes how the dealers and agents serve as the link between overseas Filipinos and the motherland. He adds that “It is through them that we are able to connect our kapamilyas here in North America, back to our home country – either by providing news and entertainment through TFC, or remittance service through myREMIT, or balikbayan box service through StarKargo.

Over 70 participants, including TFC dealers and agents and TFC Sales and Marketing team members attended the two-day TFC Dealers’ Summit at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.

According to Olano,“We need to properly equip and motivate our dealers and agents. The summit meeting equips their mind with knowledge, and the BIDA program fuels their heart with passion.”

In his inspirational speech, Executive Adviser Raffy Lopez expressed his gratitude to the team calling them “our beloved heroes in the field, the faces of TFC to our customers through the years.” Lopez paraphrased a 19th century poet and said, “We went to where there was no path, and left a trail. Mabuhay to all of you and from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your service.”

NEWS RELEASE: Netflix Picks Up Myx TV’s “Eat Your Words”

NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release

Netflix Picks Up Myx TV’s “Eat Your Words”

LOS ANGELES, CA, January 31, 2018 Myx TV, the leading English-language Asian American entertainment network, scored a milestone this January.  Netflix has ordered two seasons of the show, “Eat Your Words”, Myx TV’s food competition show that challenges participants to recreate dishes that they didn’t enjoy at a given restaurant.

“We’re very proud of this accomplishment,” said Myx TV General Manager Miguel Santos.  “Myx TV has been producing reality shows of late that are out of the box and out of the ordinary.  We offer a different palette of storytelling, perspective and experience that appeal across the board and I’m glad that Netflix saw something new and special in one of our works.”

“Eat Your Words” turns the table on internet food critics. Host Kara Birkenstock was quoted by Variety: “In the age of social media, anyone who goes to a restaurant thinks they’re food expert, and they’re happy to broadcast their picky opinion over the internet.”

The show then challenges the critics to cook the dish they negatively rated and be subjected to the evaluation of a panel of judges. If they score high, they get a gift certificate to the participating restaurant; if they score low, they have to apologize to the restaurant they critiqued and, well, “eat their words”.

“Eat Your Words” is the first TV series to be picked up by Netflix from Myx TV, a network owned and operated by ABS-CBN International, a subsidiary of ABS-CBN Corporation which is the largest Filipino media and entertainment network in the world. It is also the first show picked up by Netflix from any ABS-CBN company.

You can watch “Eat Your Words” on Netflix at https://www.netflix.com/title/80207838.
